Description
Halloween is around the corner, but a different kind of haunted house is coming to Pittsboro this
week. Pittsboro Baptist Church and Emmaus Baptist Church have united to bring Judgement House’s nation-wide “Unexpected” drama to the area. The realistic walk-through drama depicts the lives of several individuals, the choices they make, and the eternal consequences they face from those choices. Pittsboro will be one of approximately 3 other towns in North Carolina to offer this event. When Jon Pister, Associate Pastor of Pittsboro Baptist Church, realized that no one else was offering it within a 60-mile radius, he saw this as a key opportunity to reach the local community and Triangle area. The main goal for taking on such a mighty endeavor is to present people with the gospel in a real-life way. Production costs are approaching nearly $5,000, particularly for the use of expensive fire retardant fabric. Over 90 people are involved in the drama scene and setup, which has encompassed 12 weeks of drama practice and an unknown number of hours currently being invested in the artistic rendering of backdrops. The event will use most of the rooms throughout Pittsboro Baptist Church’s facility. With such a timely and costly investment, the goal is to reach as many people as possible through advertising, which has included radio, web, and print. Drama presentations will be held on 10/29 (7-10 P.M.), 10/30 (7-11 P.M.), 10/31 (7-11 P.M.), and 11/1 (6-10 P.M., youth groups only) at Pittsboro Baptist Church, 121 West Salisbury Street. Some scenes are not suitable for children under age 10. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are recommended. Church youth groups require reservations. Admission is $3.00 per person.
